Skiing today was very pleasant, if a bit spring-like.  There were no worthwhile photos, however.  This photo is from yesterday, bright red Sumacs tangled among the aspens – near the Ottawa River.

  1. This is a beautiful picture with lovely contrast between the red and white. If I may make a suggestion to the caption, I believe the white trees are trembling aspen, not birch. These species can be hard to tell apart in winter. My clue is that the bark is not peeling.

  2. And here I thought it was the birches I loved! Thanks for the tip. Now that you mention it, I seemed to notice be a lot more “birches” in the winter than in the summer!
