It sure looks like a red eared slider ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red-eared_slider ), the classic pet store turtle. I didn’t know that they could survive around Ottawa, but apparently they are quite an invasive species. I’m sending this from Nuria, in the Spanish Pyrenees.
I read that too! It’s sometimes called the “dime store turtle”. I could hardly believe it was so far north. I would love to know if it has survived a winter, or has just recently been “set free”. I hope you are enjoying your time in the Pyrenees!
