A dusk walk on the Gatineau Parkway. This is the hour when wildlife tends to emerge, especially at the forest edges. A couple of bicycles were finishing their rides. Ovenbirds, robins and hermit thrushes were singing. So peaceful! Miraculously there was still no litter on the road edges, not so much as a fresh beer can! As we finished the walk and reached the closed gate, 5 maniac-driven souped-up cars, bumpers almost touching, squealed into P8, did noisy wheelies in the parking lot and then roared up the road, presumably to check if P10 was open to cars. It’s upsetting to think that these yahoos view the park as somewhere to race and drink, particularly at this most sensitive time for wildlife. . I hope the NCC comes up with a wise policy for the rest of the summer.
