The birds and water birds are still around.\u00a0 Over the past few decades we&#8217;ve seen beavers, otters, lynx, foxes, bears, weasels, deer,\u00a0 raccoons, porcupines, etc, but this area now feels bereft of wildlife.\u00a0 We\u00a0 used to hear owls almost nightly, and wolves every August, now a rarer event.\u00a0 \u00a0 Hunting is a huge thing in the fall, but more than that, the tiny Municipality of Boileau doesn&#8217;t have the resources to catch the\u00a0 local year-round poacher(s). \u00a0\u00a0 And of course, monster &#8220;cottages&#8221; with pavement or lawns are springing up like mushrooms, each with an accompanying new road which requires a \u00a0 personal and noisy all terrain vehicle.\u00a0 Too bad we can&#8217;t roll back the clock.\u00a0 Sigh.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I was happy to see this blue heron today.
