It was a great day for beavers. They always emerge when the water is open. The skiing? It was slow going on my waxless skis, but it was fun being outside in the thick fog in spring temperatures ( 3 degrees) . The snow was still quite firm for skiing, although the poles occasionally plunged half a pole length down (!). This was happening now and then even before the thaw but is more sudden and pronounced now!
