Madison Spring Hut (hostel would be a better word, certainly it is not a hut).  We were spoiled  with a hearty diner and breakfast.   Lights were out at 9:30 and the guests were sung awake at 6:30 so that they could all be out the door by 8:00.   The staff were enthusiastic and very fit  university- aged students.  Twice a week they run  3000 feet  down the mountain to take the recycling down and bring back as much as 70 lbs of supplies.  If you look closely at the left side of the building, there are several through hikers who began to hike from the southern end of the Appalachian Trail in March.  Any leftover  food goes to them in return for chores and they sometimes camp out on the dining room floor.
