A treat to see this gentle creature rooting around an old log for insects – and then having a bum rub, it seems. He was on the far shore of Mud Lake (trail 56, not in Ottawa) so we were very far away and and almost passed by without noticing him. Aside from the difficulty of biking with a big chunk of glass ( oh yeah, and then there is the cost!) it would have been nice to be able to zoom in more. My compact camera maxes out at 250mm (10 times zoom) and this photo was cropped.
