January 8, 2010: Evening Ski

It was a bit late and dark to take a clear photo with the little point and shoot!  Here is an ugly close up , showing one of my skis and the 1.5 meter strip of  deep snow between the classic skied-in tracks and the  “compacted” skate lane.   I found the skating quite tiring and managed only one pass of the Doldrums.  Don’t ask how long it took!!

Skied tonight as well from P10. Used wide boards for classic and it was okay but the tracks were just those of others before me – pretty inconsistent. Met the NCC conservation officers at Huron on skidoos. Minutes after they left me their skidoo tracks had firmed up nicely to form a great skating lane! Had a fast ride back to the car. Do we need more conservation officers and less Demsis? Hmmm….
