Here’s a memory challenge for those of you who were skiing in the park in the early 1990’s. Which cabin is this? This and the next photo were sent in by Paul Jaenicke, whom many of you may know as a real skier who posts reports for XC Ottawa.
No question whatsoever – it’s the not-to-be-mourned original Lusk Cabin (let’s call it shack). I remember it being bad but Paul’s photo shows how really bad it was. It wasn’t a shelter; rather, it was a mouse boarding house. Once I was patrolling the Lusk Lake sector and had to check the “shelter” on a very warm and high humidity day: when I opened the door I was hit by a wave of concentrated ammonia – mouse piss! When the new posh shelter was built I was surprised that this army of rodents didn’t move over.

Hmmm, you go away for a weekend and miss out on the big contest. Ah well, good to spread the winners accolades around 😉 (and nice to see Lusk hut… if only in my mind!)

I am speechless! Would never had guess! I was sure it was Renaud, but Lusk? Wow, thankfully it does not look like this anymore 🙂
