Garry opted to remain at McKinstry and missed some of the most beautiful skiing of the day.  A lightly packed snow shoe trail made for easy skiing past McKinstry .    Interestingly there were few trees bent or downed once past McKinstry.  There were no other skiers – the solitude and quiet was immense!  But drat! The snowshoe tracks did not go all the way to the Fire Tower!

This one really caught me. Trees at the top of picture disappear as the eye
moves down to the lower half, a feast of blue winter shadows. The trail works
through the entire photo, uniting upper and lower halves.
