This is the start of the northern section of the P’tit Train du Nord, another out and back trip, this time between Mont Laurier and Lac Saguay. Aside from Mont Laurier itself, an armpit of a town with big box stores, lumber and a legion of car dealerships, it was a very scenic ride. It was also surprisingly quiet for a Sunday. There is a sign on the right “warning” of a 6 % grade, quite uncharacteristic for this train ride; The first 20k climbed at about a 1% grade, basically imperceptible. Note the distinctive Quebec icon in the top left of the photo.

I’m looking forward to riding the northern section next summer. The scenery looks lovely.
