The interesting thing is that the Gatineau Park trail conditions website shows the conditions on Ridge Road past Champlain Lookout as “fair” and that grooming last took place on January 10th. It was freshly groomed last Friday and as you noted it is the only trail in the Park other than the Parkways that is decently groomed. Trails such as #40 and #3 would be way more safe and fun to ski with one or two passes of a larger groomer. “For some reason this year there has been a precipitous drop in the amount and quality of grooming with no communication to the users of the reason” I have an idea why the grooming in the Gatineau Park sucks compare to Lafleur time, the contractor “Demsis” want to save money by cutting the frequencies of the grooming and maintenance work. Demsis is not the only one to blame, the NCC is infected with the “modern virus”, and it’s called achieved profit at any cost…. You don’t have to go far to see how the NCC works.
