I think skiing on extremely thin snow is becoming tiresome, but it was ski-able on the North Loop.  A micro layer of ice beneath the  thin layer of snow (did I mention it was thin? ) made it possible to skate on the parkway itself.   The brightness of the  snow, the cold temperatures (minus 10)  and setting sun were not at all tiresome.
