Wouldn’t it be breathtaking to hike here?!   This photo was sent by Sue Cooke who was recently hiking in Sonoma, Arizona.  Here are some of her comments about the trip.  ” When we reached the top, about 5200 vertical ft, the trail flattened out on this Mesa where a forest fire burned over 4500 acres back in 2006…the views were stunning as the fog also was starting to burn off.”

Coincidentally I had just read  the chapter on picking morels, in Micheal Pollan’s book,  The Omnivore’s Dilemma. (great book!) in which he describes a burn area at about 5000 feet.  It must surely be the same spot.
