The juvenile goanna is a regular visitor to Lorraine’s garden, always hunting out food.   (Are they as common as squirrels are in our gardens?)

No, they are rarely seen in urban environments, but are more common in bushland. They are usually solitary, except when with young, and have a territory which they patrol for food each day. Can be a bit like Yogi Bear if a picnic basket is involved!! Also known as Monitor Lizards, they are extremely wary of humans, perhaps because they are considered good “bush tucker” by Aborigines.
