It was shocking to see this open scar perched above the Meech shoreline.   Presumably there will soon be a monster home erected here.    I’m amazed there are still no controls to prevent this type of erosion and loss of natural habitat within the park  ( not to mention the inevitable visual pollution).  Sad!

It seems there are philistines all over the world. They seem to be attracted to areas of great natural beauty, procure a piece of it, and then proceed to change it to look like a thousand other places.

Often the people who inflict this destruction on the landscape only use their properties once or twice a year, whilst regular visitors to the lake must gaze upon it every day. Very sad indeed!!

Yikes. I have to admit I cycle in this area a fair amount and I thought all was ok (perhaps not wrt development but while riding on Meech Lake Rd it looked like they had a reasonable driveway and were putting in retaining walls). This picture though is horrific. It is one thing to do some clearing to build, as all will regrow, but I am speechless wrt the obvious gouging of nature….rocks will never recover….1,000 yrs from now it will look the same. Very, very sad.

Wow. You are an amazing photographer. Thanks for posting.

Fighting to protect Gatineau Park is exhausting and at times feels hopeless. But as long as people like you use their considerable skills, there is hope …
