I was skiing on Trail 17 yesterday afternoon and this morning, both of which were glorious backcountry powder expeditions. Someone had preceded me at about 7:00 am this morning. Funny that the NCC website still lists this cleared trail as “Not Recommended”. I have rarely skied it in better condition.
Did you ski the entire length of the trail? We skied it Saturday but the trail clearing stopped abruptly part way through and we had to bushwhack for a distance before we came to another cleared section. Some sections were very rough as well.
I skied from Ridge Road almost to the junction of 8 before I turned around. It was good up to there. I was just ready to return. It was in excellent shape in that distance.
Oh – lucky you with that new snow – must have made all the difference. And now it is going to rain…
