As the season is ending,  I have to post this photo from yesterday.  This was the last official day of the ski season (the tracks were a day or two old) and the photo was taken on the main artery of the ski network, Ridge Road, which had not been groomed for quite a while.   The walkers seem to have the last word.  Demsis has been unable/unwilling to deal with the conflict between various users.   Their signs have remained ineffective and the grooming frequently  insufficient to repair the frequent damage of the trails.   I hope they will give this some thought before next year, and come up with a solution that benefits all.  More winter walking trails?   Volunteer trail patrols?

Maybe if the NCC charged for parking in their lots in the winter time (for those who either do not have a season pass or aren’t going to buy a day ski pass) that would deter the hikers.

In all my years of skiing , its an ongoing problem especially towards the last month of the ski season with P12, P11, P7 being the most targeted parking lots for hikers. Maybe a fine?
