Magnificent old tree, a remnant of bygone homesteading days, trail 20.  Taken last Saturday.

Hi Jo-ann:

Yeah it’s a great old tree – a remnant of the McKlusky (sp?) family’s farm. There’s quite a few signs of their stay up there off trails 18, 20, & 21. Have you seen the stone fence that crosses #21 between #20 and the pond – it’s quite visible when there’s no leaves – it’s an eloquent example of what a hard life they led. Regardless, they must have found it hard to leave when the park bought them out.

Hi Ron, I have the thank you for inspiring me to check out these trails in the first place, a couple of winters ago. It turns out they are interesting in the summer,too.. We did see the old stone fence – quite a pile of rocks! Hope to see you on the ski trails in a month’s time.
