This is the ski trail which says “No Walking” between P8 and the Visitor’s Center Loop.  On Sunday morning, as you can see,  it was still a frozen and rutted mess from the many walkers who had used it since the grooming two days before.  It certainly didn’t look like a ski trail to me!  So I broke the law and walked on it to P8.  (And it wasn’t a nice walk, either! Couldn’t imagine wanting to ski on it!)  However, the point of this story is that one of the park employees who was  at P8 at the time actually came over and politely told me I shouldn’t have walked on it.  So, they are really paying attention to walkers on the ski trails, at least when they are there.  This trail baffles me, though.  Do skiers ever use it?

We used to use it to access trail 1 from Meech Lake Rd to Penguin picnic ground. That part of trail 1 called Suicide Hill by some. But haven’t used it in years. Also there used to be a rather large winter `parking lot behind the old Welcome Centre on Meech Lake Rd.
