Hot off the press!   Garry just returned home from his ski with a photo of the celebrity at Keogan – the barred owl everyone has been talking about.  He was perched above the bird feeder, while the birds carried on below (chickadees, woodpecker, etc).

Where else would it be other than at a bird feeder. While it’s possible that the feeder feeds the cute little birds like the chickadees with bird-seed. The squirrels also have a taste for the bird-seed and, as park welfare bums, they will gather at the feeder for a free feed. The barred owl, on the other hand, has no taste for seed but as a classic example of the food chain it has a taste for squirrels – and if it just waits patiently soon enough its dinner will arrive in easy striking distance. Late yesterday afternoon we saw two deer at Huron, also appreciating the bird feeder. They were foraging around its base.

This is a famous owl. We saw it there for three weekends. Unfortunately, not today. We have been looking for him. Enjoy the photo below.
