I was wondering what was going on with the only one classic track going DH on Fortune parkway. While I agree it might have been preferable to have it going UPhill instead, I question why the classic tracks had to be sacrificed for snowmobiles, period. Why can’t the odd snowmobile go down the middle of the parkway where the skating lane is…they have those pseudo carpet groomers behind themselves that smooth the trail anyways.
I think this new “solution” is pitting the classic skiers against the skate skiers. There have long been complaints from skaters about the sometimes dangerous gouges made to the skate lane by snowmobiles, and in fact, there was recently an accident because of it. Garry feels that if they drove slowly, in a straight line ( he calls them “cowboys”) it would be less of a problem. My take is that the snowmobiles should not be on the skitrails, period.
