Whoever designed snow shoe trails 60 and 61 was brilliant. Starting just a few hundred meters from the Visitor’s Center, they look insignificant on the park map. But they wind through beautiful forest, rocky outcrops and tangles of fir trees. There are a couple of really good climbs. With the fresh snow it might have been miles away from civilization. Utterly peaceful. And more tiring than skiing!

Sounds intriguing. Where did you get on and how long did you walk? I might try this myself when the skiing is not so good.

Thanks for letting me know who designed them. It was certainly enjoyable.
Ooh — Thanks for this. I had previously used snowshoeing as an activity to do when a bad shoulder prevented me from skiing, but may now be tempted for its own sake.
