What is dryland training?? Roller blades?? My Southern Hemisphere mind boggles!! You seem to put so much energy into your summer, you could not possibly be out of condition for winter. Maybe these guys have had the summer off?
Skiers, and particularly team ski racers, train 11 months of the year, but they really get serious in the fall when everyone is back from holidays. Dryland is more specific than simply being fit, as they tailor the workouts to simulate the demands of skiing as closely as they can. They do strange looking things like ski-walking (looks just like good classic skiing, but without any snow) and roller skiing (think of long roller blades and poles but without any brakes) , as well as novel strength training and unique drills with poles.
