Even before the “closed” section, signs were scarce, so we ended up inadvertently cycling quite a few extra kilometers on a very hilly and steamy highway – we did have (very warm) water with us, but you would never believe how welcome this ice-cold-fluorescent-non-food-red-dyed drink was at the time!!   (interesting part of the world, most everyone else was on a motorbike)
