This beautiful barred owl has been showing up around 3:00 and keeping a close eye on our (now abandoned!) bird feeder. Odd how fearless owls are of people. This was taken from a couple of meters away, as he looked down on me from his perch.

It doesn’ get much better than this. Branch forming a Y for the head of the owl.
Honey light coming in from the right to brush the branch, and the owl–just
below its beak and on its tail. Love how thick breast feathers enclose the branch!
