February 6, 2011: The Pretzel

It’s the first time I’ve been able to be at the “Kanata Pretzel”.  What a fun event!  There were 200 m, 500 m and 1Km sprint courses and everyone raced several times.  Here is the first batch of photos, taken during the preliminary round.  Each round was more exciting than the one before it, and noisier too!

Jo-Ann

I thought that might have been you taking photos yesterday. I should have stopped to say hi, but I was too busy running around cheering. Glad you could make it to our race. The organizers did a great job and the racing was fun to watch. I look forward to the rest of your photos.

Hi Jo Ann,

I am so glad that you came out to the Pretzel! I thought I recognized you as well, but just briefly, as I was in the start corrals. Your shots are great – I have just seen the ones from prelim round. They really capture the essence of this event – intensity and excitement! Thank you for sharing your shots with the ski community.

Jo-Ann, good to see you. Thanks so much for the wonderful photos to remind us of a fun day. Big cheers for the organizers, the Kanata Ski Club, not least for the tasty lunches, and to all the teams and coaches who made it happen for the kids, the youth, and the young at heart 🙂

The quality of the photos is terrific, as always. Thank you for coming out JoAnn and posting these memories. If more skiers and their families find their way to Kanata next year to share in the fun that is our race day event it may be because they have seen these photos!
Thank you to all our volunteers who worked so enthusiastically! Thanks also to the skijoring and the ski-orienteering folks who came out to demo their sport! Congratulations to all the skiers for pushing themselves to do that little bit extra….well done, everyone.
