This group of SOFITs braved the minus 30 windchill (so Environment Canada said) to practice their ski skills on the North Loop.  There were very few other skiers, but, aside from the extreme cold  the conditions were fabulous.   If you have to ski today, really cover up, wax at home (not in the parking lot!) and ski moderately.  Save the epic trips or heroic intervals for a warmer day and don’t stray too far from your car.

My advice on days like today is avoid the North Loop. Its usually the coldest place in the park! I know beginners like the flat terrain but it cold. Try starting from P6 (MacKenzie King) or Asticou instead. They offer relatively sheltered rolling skiing.

This was such a grand time – no one there, great conditions, good grooming and just a tad cool but sooooo much fun. I like Craig’s advice for beginner skiers but……… we are the SOFITS.
