Cyclists on the Fortune Parkway this morning, where it was atmospheric and peaceful. The Champlain Parkway was much foggier than this, and the Gatineau Parkway was much more “wild”, distressingly so. Between packs of cyclists, time-trialing roller skiers, herds of skate boarders and gigantic groups of hikers (what’s with these super large, noisy hiking groups, anyway? It seems to be a new phenomenon ) crossing the road, you really had to keep eyes open and hands near the brakes. The yellow line was pretty much irrelevant on the upper Gatineau Parkway. And, almost forgot, around this same time there also seemed to be a meeting of photographers! I counted about 7 of them with SLRs and tripods, all within a few hundred meters, near Penguin.
The parkways definitely are getting busier…I guess that’s a good thing to see them being used. Personally I am starting to prefer riding them when they are open to cars…usually less busy then.
I feel the same, Sue.
