Here is Don, up near the top of the Fortune Parkway this morning – we met him while stopping to admire a deer nearby in the woods. It was a cool but beautiful cycling day.
Question: are large trucks permitted on the parkways? I have seen several this year on the Gatineau Parkway, and in just a short period of time this morning both an UPS truck and a very large HERTZ moving van roared by. (The moving van was quite frightening as it passed me from behind- it sounded so large that I moved over to the grass).

Hi, it was nice meeting you. I am enjoying all your pictures. What a great blog you have. Hi Jo-Ann;
wrt trucks on the parkway. I don’t think commercial vehicles are allowed on the parkway. That said, now that the NCC has closed access at Gamelin – I expect some vehicles are getting “caught” on the parkway thinking they could exit sooner. Now – if you get on the parkway at Des Allumetieres or Tache… there isn’t anywhere to exit until you get clear up to Old Chelsea (Kingsmere or Meech). Perhaps GPS systems are steering folks to the now defunct Gamelin road?
Hi Don!
Nice to hear from you! We actually have a commemorative map of the old trails. It was on sale for just a short period and is no longer available, unfortunately. However, I have you an email with some trail info. Let me know if you haven’t received it.
Ken- that makes perfect sense and explains why these trucks are all here NOW and not in other years. Thanks for the insight.
