Who cares about “fast”? Do you have to be somewhere soon? Shouldn’t you be going slow enough to see all that beauty? I understand the enjoyment of speed at times, but I will willingly accept the pleasures of new snow over groomed hardpack.
Perhaps switch the word “exhausting” for the word “slow”. And I only had enough food for a couple of hours. We started close to lunch time because Garry likes warmer weather. If the whole route had been as slow as the first bit I would still be out there!
