Serendipity!   On Monday a visitation of migrating Redpolls almost kept me from skiing.  A conservative guess is that there were 500 or more spread over a small area  of hardwood forest.  They were in the feeders, on the driveway, on the porch, on the ground, on the remaining snow, in the trees and under the trees.   The forest was filled with the squeak of their tiny voices.   This one was perched on a small shrub about 8 inches from the window.
