A 2nd cousin of mine had this problem years ago. The peckers like the amplified sound they get. My cousin ended the alarms by waiting until Woody began his morning rat-tat-tat when she responded with a spoon down at her end of the stovepipe. Woody was so rat-rat-rattled that he never visited the chimneytop again.
