
It’s snowing like crazy and I am about to head out skiing with my crappy little waterproof camera, but I can’t resist posting this first. There are always hairy woodpeckers banging around in the woods but they are generally uninterested in the bird feeder. Today, not 5 minutes after suet was hung for the first time (complete with a squirrel baffle) this guy showed up. It’s so much fun watching the birds through the window as the snow falls.

Great shot! How close is your feeder to your window?
It’s quite a few meters away (5?) but I used a zoom lens. ( Photographing birds is the only thing that motivates me to wash windows. )
I use a zoom lens too but I think my feeder is too far away as I never get nice sharp close ups like this … Then again I don’t have anywhere near your talent 🙂
