A cottager (large new monster home next to the swamp) complained about their elderly birch trees being targeted by beavers, and applied to have the beavers removed. And it was done. It seems they broke up the lodges and dams as well, which is apparently not a good practice a the dams are a filter for heavy metals and toxins. Anyway, the water level is now disturbingly low, and not so much as a chewed twig on the lake.
