I just love these purple punk birds – they have so much character. The one at the top is looking straight at you asking ‘did I give permission for a photograph’ Are the brown ones the females (as per usual)?
Yes, the brown ones are either females or juveniles, The bird on the bottom left is a Goldfinch.. Apparently Purple Finches are in decline around here, so I’m thrilled to have such a large flock. It’s the first year we have had them other than a stray one passing through.
